It is officially September 1st and although we’re also mourning the end of summer, we’ve got you covered with 7 of the best things to do this month. Get busy and take advantage of the most fantastic events in the city before the cold comes!

 

1. Test your taste-buds limits at the Heating Up The Capital hot sauce expo

For all those spice lovers, this is seriously the event for you. Join in on Ottawa’s first ever Hot Sauce Expo and try tons of free tasting sessions to your mouth’s delight. There also will be competitions on who can handle the heat, so if you dare to, sign up to test your limits!

When: This Saturday, September 4th 10AM-6PM

 

2. Get crazy at the famous Escapade Music Festival 

If you’re like us and into heavy dubstep/ intense electro, you’re gonna want to check this out. After the many months of no live music, you bet we’re itching to attend this awesome festival. Check out more info on how to grab tickets for this weekend here!

When: Saturday September 4th and Sunday September 5th

 

3. Try apple picking at the Mountain Orchard Apple Farm 

Starting this weekend, you can go apple picking on the stunning Mountain Orchard apple farm. There are corn mazes, wagon rides and plenty of other activities to try as well. It’s the perfect way to welcome fall and gather the best ingredients for a delicious pie!

4. Check out the delicious Le Burgers Week 

Burger-lovers unite, it’s Le Burgers Week X2 this year! Chomp down on the city’s most tasty burgers at any of the participating restaurants. Be sure to tell us which one is your favourite!

5. Grab a drink along the Ottawa River at this floating cocktail bar

6. Take advantage of your last chance to check out Rembrandt’s best works 

Before the exhibit closes on Sunday, be sure to check out the stunning Dutch painter, Rembrandt at the National Gallery of Canada. The exhibit, Rembrandt in Amsterdam: Creativity and Competition is truly a sight to behold so head down there if you can this weekend!

7. View the stunning Parc Omega at night 

The famous Parc Omega wildlife reserve is offering their night walks for the rest of the month. The 1.5km walking trail through the Land of The Pioneers is a great date night idea so head here before the nights cool down too much!
