Located at the heart of the city, it doesn’t get much easier than this if you’re looking for beautiful waterfalls to check out in the fall. The Hog’s Back Falls are a stunning location to admire the changing fall foliage with the gentle sound of the water.
Located just north of Mooney’s Bay and south of Vincent Massey Park, the Hog’s Back Falls are surrounded by some of Ottawa’s most beautiful sights. The well-known Hog’s Back Falls are on everyone’s bucket list of the best things to see in the city, but don’t you agree that the autumn is when their beauty really shines?
Right where the Rideau Canal splits from the Rideau River, the water here produces such a tranquil atmosphere, it’s easy to forget you’re in the heart of the city. All 60 feet of rushing water provide the perfect nature escape that doesn’t require any travel at all. Despite the falls being very urban, you can still get that incredible vista of the changing colours of the leaves in the nearby parks.
Take a long stroll along the river some sunny day this week and admire the waterfall with the gorgeous reds, oranges and yellows of the trees behind. The 1.3km loop that takes you along the water offers the best vistas for seeing all the fall foliage and allow you to truly take in the sound of the water rushing on by. It’s these little escapes mid-week that we all really need as the seasons change.
